South Asia Peace Movement organizes day long conference

South Asia Peace Movement on Sunday organized a day long conference titled “Role Of Youth In Politics” in Downtown Srinagar.

The speakers during conference expressed their views and said that youth can make efforts for upliftment of society by being active in politics.

They said that politics is a sacred tool which can be used in eradication of poverty and illiteracy rate.

Congress General Secretary Surrinder Singh Chunni urged upon youth to be the part of change and join politics for making the nation better.

Dr GN Qasba in his speech lauded the efforts of youth political leaders and said that youth must complete their educational careers before joining the politics.

Socail Activist Manjoot Kour through light on his political journey and said that politics for youth must come from youth leaders.

South Asia Peace Movement chairman Tariq Bhat said that local traditional political parties have always discouraged youth in adopting vital role in politics of J&K.

“We have large number of youth who want to join mainstream politics. The sorry state of affairs is that local political parties don’t give these youth any space. These aspirant political leaders are used only to gain vote bank, used for election campaigns,” he said.

He added that political parties have divided state of J&K into parts and youth need to come forward, be political leaders and disband these traditional political parties who had been exploiting local youth and public.

Bhat said that he has not received a single word of encouragement from local government for all the initiatives he took for the youth.

“Whatever encouragement came, that came from Delhi. The state government of our state has never been what it ought to be when it comes to youth,” he said.
